Mosio is a messaging service specifically tailored for REDCap users, allowing for automated survey invites, alerts, and survey invitations via SMS/text messaging. Mosio operates on a monthly subscription model, offering four different service tiers to accommodate various needs.
The “Direct” plan is available for $42 per month, providing 1,000 SMS message segments per month. Unused SMS credits roll over to the following month, ensuring maximum value. Additionally, the plan includes four different texting numbers, enabling users to link their Mosio account to up to four projects.
The “Basic” plan, priced at $99 per month, offers 3,000 SMS segments, 10 texting numbers/project links, and enhanced functionality. This expanded functionality extends beyond REDCap, allowing users to leverage the Mosio web application directly. With the “Basic” plan, you can initiate two-way text conversations with participants, schedule and send interactive appointment reminders, monitor conversation history, and even distribute SMS-based surveys. These features facilitate seamless participant engagement across both platforms and offer user-friendly tools that may be unavailable or less intuitive in REDCap. With “Basic” or higher plans, Mosio can effectively function as a standalone application.

Designed with researchers in mind, Mosio also allows you to add a REDCap Administrator to your SMS project for no fee. This capability enables our team to provide in-application support specific to Mosio, a feature that distinguishes it from the other REDCap-integrated SMS service, Twilio, which does not offer comparable support configurations. For our existing Twilio users, we highly encourage you to transition to Mosio, we will no longer be supporting Twilio. We plan to provide more details once decisions around the retirement process have been finalized.
